Little serving spoon

$275.00

A fine little serving spoon in red lancewood. My first attempt at this spoon was a failure. which turned out to be a blessing. I went back and found this piece of lancewood instead. the grain direction worked out better for the shape. And it had some light sapwood which I incorporated into the handle to give it a nice contrast to the red bowl.

The Red lancewood I used for this spoon might be Acacia shirleyi or more likely in my opinion Archidendropsis basaltica. both are strong dense Australian hardwoods in the same family. And they both make amazing spoons. strong and durable with a really nice weight and feel.

The bottom outside bowl on this spoon has two small blemishes. one very shallow knot hole and a very shallow superficial crack. They are not present on the inside the bowl and I decided to leave them both instead of making the bowl thinner. I do not sell pieces with serious defects, and this will not affect the spoon in any way. just adds character.

Measures 12 inches long and holds ¼ cup. Sterling silver heart signature inlay.

*This spoon can be used right-handed. but with the offset handle I think left-handed use would be more practical.
